About Formulas That Fit

My aim is to enable people of all ages and abilities to obtain an ideal fitness and sense of wellbeing that will work for them.  I can provide personalized training schedules that can help you achieve specific goals.

Whether you are a rising star or a busy professional I can use the wealth of my own experiences to create a plan that will work for you.

A short-ish story/bio on Chris Ghiorse and why I feel I have the knowledge to help you on your path of change for the better

I have nearly 30 years of competitive sports experience.  I started in high school swimming distance for my school team.  I took up cycling in the summer of ’80, ironically, to stay in shape for swimming and found that I was much better at that.  I spent the next 12 years racing in the US and Europe at an elite level.  I “retired” from cycling in 1992 and moved to Tortola.

Life in the BVI is fun (and has many hidden challenges…can you say shipping delays?) and before I knew what happened I started my own business as a bicycle shop owner and in the space of five years put on close to 90 pounds.  I now realize this was because I was too worried about keeping my business alive and could not find time to do even a few minutes of fitness related exercise for myself.

By the time the year 2000 rolled around business was good (and more out of control than ever), but I was having so many health issues I decided I needed to try and take control of my health/life again or I would be dead of a heart attack before I reached 40.  It was very hard to put aside memories of what I “used to do” and to create time to train, but with persistence I managed to shed most of my excess weight (over 60 pounds or as I like to tell people around 8 gallons of water in weight!!).

Being a competitive soul, I started competing again in alot of the events I had been organizing.  Circumstances arose that saw me sell my share of the bicycle business in 2002.

I spent the next three years moving up and down the competitive fitness ladder, usually losing my fitness because of work.  I started doing triathlons and along with road and mountain bike racing and managed to win quite a few events as “the old guy”.

In 2006 I made a commitment to bringing cycling safety to children as well as fitness consulting to busy adults.  The mechanics of doing business in the BVI have only just come to fruition and I am now able to hang my “shingle” out there for the world to see.

It took a lot of effort to forget my old racing weight and strengths.  I had to really focus on accepting my age and what I am now.  I won’t lie,  it is still hard, but ultimately I have a much fuller life now - when you are younger it is easier to make all the sacrifices necessary to achieve ones goal.

The conclusion

All of us have some sort of ideal fitness and wellbeing dream.  If you are a busy professional or an aspiring sports legend you can make the choice and I can help you balance that equation.  Email me for help!
