BSAFE Graduates Francis Lettsome and Leonora Delville Students
Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 7:08PM The BSAFE (Bicycle Safety Awareness For Everyone) program reached a significant milestone with the graduation of Leonora Delville and Francis Lettsome Primary schools students.
“These four groups are the first to benefit from the new bus that BSAFE has purchased as part of BSAFE’s continuous commitment to bring free bicycle education to the community,” said Chris Ghiorse the Director of BSAFE. “Obtaining the bus will enable BSAFE to offer a service that will extend beyond the after school classes and will help build the awareness of the program with the public in general.”

BSAFE also chose a student from each school that had graduated from BSAFE Level One last year and had them assist with the program this year. “These two students showed me they were very keen last year and I wanted to see how they would react with the responsibilities of leading their schoolmates,” said Chris.

When asked about his duties as the assistant for Leonora Delville, Mikiel Robin admitted that “it’s hard not to go fast when you lead”, referring to the requirement of showing the correct direction to ride through the designated obstacles at a controlled speed. Nicholas King of Francis Lettsome felt it was “important to pay attention” when being given the instruction of where to go because he had the responsibility of riding it right to set a good example.
Akira Phillip from Francis Lettsome who has one a few bike races before completing her Level One course said, “BSAFE is fun, I just want to learn how to ride better for the races!”
